My cousin gave me this book. I thought it was a weight loss book, so I read it, loved it and put it away. Three months later I was feeling ill and desperate and I remembered Nan Lu's words. I pulled out the book and followed the suggestions. I really isn't a weight loss book...it is a heal yourself book and the weightloss is a side bonus. I use it like my health bible now. I read and look up info and reread it all the time and learn something new every time. I feel great and have healed a number of ailments I thought I would be stuck with forever. I also eliminated a lot of aches and pains, and the best side effect is that I lost 50lbs to boot. I really wanted to learn how to heal myself and healing qigong taught me exactly how to do that. Healing Qigong is truly amazing. It worked for me and greatly changed my outlook on my life, abilities and my future. There is also a lot of support from Nan Lu's website. I love this book.

The first 70 pages of the book are nothing more than the author trying to convince the reader this is an effective method towards releasing weight. But, even after the author gets to the point, the convincing continues, ad nauseum.

I became so bored reading the same statements over and over again that I started skimming through the book to find relevant information. Unfortunately, the relevant information is so scattered that its very tedious to put it all together. For example, the author says most Westerners expect a list of foods to eat right off the bat. After trying to convince the reader this is an unhealthy approach to eating, a food list is given (about 20 pages later). Yet, its another 50 pages before the author explains why those specific foods were chosen.

This book is supposed to be written for Western minds to understand Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in order to bring their bodies into balance. Yet, very little explanation is given about the priciples of TCM. The author only glosses over the divisions TCM practitioners use (hot/cold, dry/damp, internal/external, etc.), making it difficult to know how to use them correctly.

This may be an effective method for reducing weight, but the poor presentation makes this book practically worthless.

Good, because this is the only book I have met in my life that actually have told me the reason I gain weight and the reason I can never lose weight no matter that I think I do eat healthy food or I exsersise or I walk, or I add a lot of herbs into my diets.
Bad because this books says that it is the Qi gong that will make you lose weight not the food. OK, but then why the author puts only 8 pages of exercise? The rest of the 328 pages is all about food and a lot of bla- bla - bla. You can't understand this 10 exercises - which 1 works for what?
Also there is too many passages of the book that repeat to make the book bigger probably.I have some serious doubts that the author of the book knows in debth or understands in debth the TCM.
