Beauty Tips for Women Over 50

Beautiful skin, a beautiful body and a beautiful sense of style does not have an end once you hit 50s. There’s very little difference between the recommended diet and exercise habits for a 20-year-old and that of a 50-year-old. In fact, the only difference is that a healthy diet and regular exercise are more important than ever. During the aging process, the key to keeping your body properly functioning and in shape is to eat healthy and stay active.

At 50 and older, most adults are still capable of completing most exercises. Exercising can mean taking daily 40 minutes walk with your partner or alone, enjoying exercise videos at home. Botox injections can ease wrinkles in the upper third of the face. Chemical peels are effective in removing fine lines and smoothing skin, especially around the eyes and mouth. Wrinkle fillers can plump up your skin and erase lines.

Women over 50 usually look better with a cream lipsticks rather than a matte or gloss and in a pinch your lipsticks can double as a blush. Lips tend to lose definition and color, and become thinner with age. One of the great makeup tricks for aging skin is using a neutral lip liner to add plumpness with a sheer lipstick to avoid feathering (we like berries and browns). Use a lip liner to help define lips. Try a lip liner whose color is very close to the natural shade of your lips and both line and fill in the lips with this pencil prior to using your lip color. Carry a stash of different lipsticks in daring shades in your purse for different occasions, outfits, and moods. Use makeup to accentuate your positive qualities and make yourself feel great.

Women Over 50 and Beauty Tips

1. Using heavy makeup and powders does not compliment dryer skin.

2. Heavily powdered skin will make your skin look matte and dry.

3. Just as the pigment in our hair changes and it turns grey, the melanin in our skin changes also.

4. Don't give into the idea that you have to own every new color that is fashionable for a particular season.

5. Use a humidifier. Use moisturizing soaps and lotions.

6. Good nutrition helps the body repair skin.

7.Drinking lots of water helps hydrate skin from the inside out.

8. Use products with SPF 15 or higher, and both UVB and UVA protection.

The Importance Of Skin Care

Beauty and skin care go hand in hand, especially for those who want to show off their best with confidence. Starting good skin habits at a young age will contribute to younger looking skin in our not so young years later on. Good eating habits of healthy organic foods too contribute to more beautiful younger looking skin. Besides good daily habits of serious skin care, there is also the very strong advise of skin cancer doctors to never smoke and always use skin protection in the sun.

Beauty skin care, It is not just a facial issue, serious skin care must include all of your skin from head to toes. According to dermatologist MD Dennis Gross, the absolute worst thing we can do to our skin is unprotected sun exposure. Doctor Gross goes on to say that 90% of the skin's wrinkles, dark spots and sagging skin are caused by unprotected sun exposure. This is why doctors highly recommend always wearing SPF 15 sun protection products all of the time. This is especially important to start these habits at an early age for those with the most sensitive skin.

The reasons for our skin changes over time, have to directly do with skin collagen breaking down. As already mentioned, there are several reasons why this happens, but there is now ways to change some of the damage done. We can do things to prolong and even make some skin reversals of damage that will take off years without the expensive doctors office treatments. There now are proven products out there with collagen repair that will improve the damage. Retinol and organic skin care antioxidants such as green tea extract and vitamin C are also affordable and proven to bring back your skins beauty without even having to use harsh or expensive products.

Aside from beauty skin care repairs; there is also the importance of your daily facial cleansing habits. Most now understand that there are very few soaps properly balanced for facial skin use. Many will dry out our skin and only the soaps or cleansers made just for our facial washing should be used. Over washing is also bad for our face, because of removing to many natural oils that should be there. Luke warm water is recommended too, for reasons of hot or cold breaking down capillaries. One more very important point for serious beauty skin care is once a week exfoliation. A good at home kit is affordable and easy to use for anyone. It is important though to use small-grained exfoliates and not large grained because of large grains being damaging more than helping. With the small-grained exfoliate usage once a week; a glow will come back to you skin. Moisturize is too very important to keep that glow going. It is important to moisturize for all skin types except skin with acne issues. Depending on your skin type, moisturizing will vary on how much or how little you use.

Beautiful skin does not take much to get back, but just a few good anti aging skin care products and good habits of commitment. So just in time for the warmer weather, it does not take long to start treating your skin with kindness and in return, softness and beauty will be yours to show off. A little effort will go along ways and the glow will show!

Skin Care – Looking After Your Body

While most of us have a routine to care for our facial skin, few consider that the skin on the rest of our bodies needs just as much help. Hands, in particular, are very prone to damage from the environment and day to day living, because the skin is fine and has no sebaceous glands. The answer is regular care.

Hands

Skin types vary, but as we age, many of us find that our hands actually make us look older than our faces do. This is probably because of years of neglect so before it's too late, start taking care of those hands.

The regular use of protective hand cream is essential. Most are oil in water emulsions, which contain substances that attract water and shield the skin from the harmful components in detergents and other household items. Some are water in oil emulsions, which act even more effectively against the detergents etc., but these are not so easily absorbed and can leave the skin feeling sticky and unpleasant.

Feet

Feet are probably abused even more than hands. In the winter, we force them into boots, man-made shoes and other footwear, which is either too tight or unsuited to the shape of our feet. They support our weight and sweat in central heating while freezing out on the cold pavements and they need routine care.

While feet should be regularly moisturised, at least once a week, they need a full pampering session. Soak them in warm water (not too hot) for at least ten minutes. Pat dry, then use a pumice stone or abrasive file especially for feet to remove as much hard skin as possible. Moisturise with cream, which is not too easily absorbed. If your feet are seriously dry and cracked, apply cream very thickly just before going to bed and cover with cotton socks.

Bodies

Daily moisturising after bathing or showering is essential, particularly if the body has been or will be exposed to the sun. Everyone has a favourite body lotion and the choice is immense, so we won't go into detail here.

It is sensible to wear a sunscreen, but don't be fooled into thinking that just because you are using SPF 15, you can stay out in the sun all day long without burning. Even the toughest skins will usually show some effects if exposed for long periods of time and fair-skinned people will still only be able to stay in direct sunlight for a short time without burning.

Certain areas of our skin are not as robust as others, usually those where there is little subcutaneous fat, such as upper chests, elbows, forearms and shins. Use a moisturiser here which is specially formulated for dry skin.

Like our feet, unless the skin is very dry, our bodies need to be exfoliated once a week. Use a shower gel with an exfoliant in it such as nut or fruit seed grains or a separate scrub with an enlivening scent. Follow with your favourite moisturiser your skin will feel fantastic.

Skin Care Tips Specifically For African Americans

Skin care is most effective and successful when armed with knowledge. This is the same for all skin colors and skin types. A skin care program for those of African American descent is just as any skin care program, you have to understand what makes your skin unique and different. This knowledge and understanding gives you the power to decide exactly what products are best for your skin. Ultimately regardless of type or color, all skin has certain requirements that must be met to achieve a healthy natural glow.

One of the most notable differences that can be seen in the skin makeup of African Americans is the amount of melanin which is produced by the skin cells called melanocytes. All individuals have the same number of melanocytes dispersed throughout the epidermis layer of their skin, however your skin tone is determined by the amount of melanin produced. Simply put, the more melanin the darker your skin tone and this is the reason why no two individuals regardless of race have exactly the same skin tone.

There is of course advantages and disadvantages to having larger amounts of melanin in your skin. The greatest benefit is protection from the sun's damaging effect which causes everything from sunburns to the premature aging of the skin. African Americans tend to look years if not decades younger than their fair skinned counterparts of the same age. More importantly African Americans are less susceptible to developing skin cancer. In essence the naturally occurring melanin in the skin acts as a partial sunscreen. The important thing to remember is that this doesn't completely negate the effects of the sun and a sunscreen of SPF 15 is still recommended for complete protection.

As mentioned above there is also challenges to having larger amounts of melanin present. For instance the skin tends to be more reactive meaning that many sorts of trauma or irritation to skin may cause the melanocytes to produce more melanin. This excess production may result in darkened areas or a scarring effect which is called post inflammatory hyper pigmentation and can last months or even years. Therefore special care is needed to avoid these situations and repair any already damaged skin.

To minimize the occurrence of unnecessary damage to the skin, here are few simple tips. First of all, be gentle. Although cleansing and exfoliating are necessary, scrubbing your skin excessively or with to much pressure can cause bruising and microscopic tears. Darker pigmented skin tends to be more delicate and often hides the resulting damage. Clay based exfoliates are recommended because they tend to be gentler on the skin. It is also best to avoid the use of soap on your face, it tends to be harsh and drying. Try to stay away from products with a lot of perfumes as they can cause irritations and rashes. If you have oily skin a purifying cleanser would be a good choice.

Black or dark pigmented skin tends to have larger pores, therefore toning is essential. A gentle toner helps to prevent blackheads and to help keep the pores healthy. Moisturizing is a topic which seems to be controversial especially for those individuals that are affected by oily complexions. A large majority of persons with dark skin do indeed struggle with oily skin however that does not necessarily mean that can not moisturize. There is a vast selection of moistures available that quickly penetrate the skin without leaving a heavy greasy layer to contend with, these are preferred.

For the most part, skin is skin, and it is all different regardless of tone or color. Every individual is different therefore no one product fits all. Use products that fit your individual needs and that give you the results you are looking to achieve.
