As I sit writing this article on weight loss pills, I've reminded myself that I haven't exercised in a week. I have been traveling 90% of the time the past two months and I think is fair to say I haven't been eating well (a balanced diet as my mother refers).
Though this may sound like a perfect storm for weight gain and inches on my waist, I fortunately threw my trusty weight loss pills in to my carry-on. Now these are not a panacea for long term solution for shedding pounds or keeping my muscles toned, they have helped me avoid some flabby-ness and lose a few pounds as a bonus.
Many dietary supplements contain heavy amounts of caffeine or Ephedrine that increase metabolism and help you to lose weight but cause "jitters" and give you a nervous feeling. These formulas are considered "back end" supplements to increase your body's metabolic rate burning off stored fat at a faster pace than usual. The problem is to target fat that has already accumulated and work to prevent fat or cellulite deposits.
Though these formulas generally work well, they often do not contain adequate vitamins and minerals that facilitate healthy weight control, improve health or give your metabolism the tools for keeping the fat off.
Natural weight loss pills use minerals, vitamins, herbal extracts and amino acids that help control weight gain while improving your body's ability to process food intake without accumulating fat or cellulite. Though some may use natural ingredients as a stimulant, the primary goal is to prevent or slow the conversion of foods to fat.
This process is considered a "front-end" approach and has been shown to control weight gain in a healthy fashion. Said simply, they fire-up your body's fat-burning furnace.
When combined with a healthy (or healthier diet) and adequate exercise, many have found weight loss to be easier.
Using powerful, all-natural botanical extracts and minerals such as Manganese, Selenium and Chromium, advanced weight loss pills can help shed pounds while improving you skin's appearance and providing balanced vitamins. They add energy without making you feel nervous or out of control - and, more importantly, most do not contain Ephedrine, a stimulant commonly found in metabolic diet pills.
Weight loss pills come in a variety of formulations all of which are designed to shed pounds. Natural weight loss combined with a balanced diet and exercise can help weight control and give you the vitamins and minerals your body and skin needs for improved health and metabolism.

Weight gain is common in midlife women and isn't just the result of too many calories and too little exercise. Oh, if it were only that simple! There are many physical and emotional factors involved. Women gain weight for different reasons and what works to help one lose, might not do a thing for another. Maybe that's why "diets don't work". Weight loss plans need to be tailored to meet the specific needs of each individual. If you're saying, "No matter what I do, I can't lose weight", consider adding stress reduction to your weight loss program.
Stress and the adrenal glands play a major role in midlife weight gain. Briefly, the adrenal glands react to stress by releasing cortisol into the bloodstream. The kind of stress doesn't matter to the adrenals. It can be physical, emotional, environmental, bio-chemical or even imagined. Since midlife women experience stress in multiple aspects of life on a daily basis, cortisol remains elevated for sustained periods. It settles in the fat cells causing weight gain, typically around the middle of the body.
Elevated cortisol also effects thyroid function. And, it's no surprise that compromised thyroid function is associated with weight gain. High cortisol prohibits a normal response to the thyroid hormone signal which is sometimes called "thyroid resistance". This resistance impacts other hormone receptors like insulin, progesterone, estrogens and testosterone, requiring more hormones to create a normal effect. The connection between elevated cortisol and insulin resistance is yet another cause of weight gain. Stress clearly creates a vicious cycle!
To help balance cortisol levels and nurture your overworked adrenals, avoid stimulants, alcohol, refined sugars, carbohydrates, processed and fried foods. Eat smaller portions more frequently. Include lean, hormone free meats and dairy, vegetables, legumes, high-fiber grains, leafy greens and fresh fruit. Drink plenty of pure, fresh water every day to help flush toxins from the body. Utilize supplements and herbs to nurture the adrenal glands. And, take time each day to rest, restore, reevaluate and reinvent yourself for the next chapter of life.
While eating well and getting plenty of exercise are essential for good health, consider reducing stress and learning effective stress management techniques an important part of your weight loss program. Journaling, meditation, yoga, Tai Chi, self-hypnosis, guided imagery, breathing exercising and listening to soothing music are just some of the ways to support healthy weight loss through relaxation. It's also important to take time to address unresolved emotional stressors like conflicts at work and in relationships, feelings of guilt and unhealed wounds from the past.
For midlife women, losing those extra pounds means much more than looking better. Other benefits include more energy, better sleep and a reduced risk of hormone related conditions like elevated cholesterol, type II diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease. Obesity in midlife is also associated with a higher risk of Alzheimer's disease. Maintaining a healthy weight will add years to your life and enhance the quality of each and every day. You deserve it and you can do it!

If you are a "Baby Boomer", you have noticed that your health may be a bit different than in your younger years. I am not a "B-Boomer", but I am right behind you! I am in my 30's and notice things don't sit the way they did when I was in my 20's! Ah, The good ol' days! When gravity didn't affect me as much, and I could eat pizza without seeing it appear quickly on my legs and belly, as well as behind me. But such is this time of our life. So, what are we to do? What are the things that affect us the most. We are all different, some more fit than others, some more stressed , and some, unfortunately, with greater physical needs. Some of us, if not most, are affected by aches and pains of one kind or another.
Joint pain, allergies, weight challenges, or just feeling stressed and run down from poor diet. I take that back, not "just stressed". That is the main cause of illness today. Stress can change your health on a cellular level. Check the medical journals, and make your own assessments. The fact remains, stress is a major problem today with all age groups, but we have the "baby boomers " to thank for being a massive part of those studies. The one's affected most by stress, pollution, poor diet, and the "at the time" undiscovered risks involved. Food additives, smoking, and other things we only learned can be damaging AFTER it began affecting them. But now is the time to counteract the things that damage us.
Should one bother to start taking care of themselves now? Absolutely! How? There are many ways. If you are bothered by your weight, you should definitely start some physical activity, but only after your doctor gives you the green light ! Some people may have underlying physical limitations they may not be aware of ! When I worked in a popular vitamin and supplement shop, a woman entered and asked for weight loss pills, a.k.a. "fat burners". I asked her if she had any heart problems in her family history, and she replied, "Yes, I got the problem from these pills, here..." as she pointed to a top selling "thermogenic" or "fat burning" pill. She had taken them without regard that she had a history of heart problems, and was STILL wanting to take a fat burning pill!! Walking and 10 glasses of water a day is still the best way to start raising your metabolism. Please, before you run down to your local health, or vitamin shop, check with your doctor, ask what he thinks about the supplements you wish to use, and check with the company that produces them. If you have a family history of serious, or potentially serious medical problems, you need to cover your bases, and be informed. Ask any relatives if your grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc., have any hereditary medical problems. Some physical traits, and underlying problems can go back several generations, so use great caution.
The same goes for physical exercise! I thought I was Wonder Woman when I was 29, after a large weight gain, and decided to get serious fast! Too serious, and too fast! I compressed 2 disks while failing to stretch and warm up. I was also doing the exercises "incorrectly". It took me 3 years to recover. Some aren't as lucky. Some damage, that takes only a split second to happen, can last a lifetime. Painfully limiting you for good.Take 15 minutes or more to stretch properly, then start your exercising. You have a plethora of references to choose from on correct exercise techniques these days! Please, use them! The ideal is a well trained , certified personal trainer. There are affordable health clubs in most cities, that offer a few FREE sessions with one of their certified trainers, to get you on the right track. The alternative is studying exercises yourself. Get a reputable magazine on fitness. There are quite a few, and I enjoy several. The tips are great, and most can even be looked up online. Do a Google search, or Yahoo!, and see what comes up.
What vitamins and supplements should you use? What is the best? There are several good brands available, mostly available at health food stores. The best ones are the "natural vitamins". The others are synthetic, and most of those can't be absorbed into the body. You should take your vitamins and herbal supplements with food, and plenty of water for your body to absorb them properly. Herbal supplements and vitamins taken on an empty stomach can just wash right through your system, not being absorbed the way they should be! Never take vitamin C or ZINC on an empty stomach. It can severely upset your stomach, and cause severe nausea or vomiting.
When I worked in a supplement and vitamin shop, people always complained about the prices. They'd say,"I don't want to pay so much just for vitamins, and supplements! It's too much!" Is it? Really? Most people will spend ridiculous amounts of money on things that won't benefit their body or mind , improve their health, or relieve pain, but will spend for anything else. Ironic, isn't it? A great pair of heels on sale for $85, that will hurt your feet after nearly 1/2 an hour of walking in them, or cool socks for the top of your golf clubs...is that worth more than your health? I didn't think so. Well, unless you are more committed to shoes or golf clubs, of course. But when it comes to your health, you should be taking care of it. Most people don't appreciate it, until it starts to deteriorate. You think I thought twice about my lower back health until I injured it? Not really. Did I think about my great energy levels until they started depleting? Nope ! We all do now, don't we! The right diet and exercise will always help, and the supplements you need are based on what your body tells you.
First, doctor approving of course, a good multi-vitamin. I choose to use Lifepak Nano, by Pharmanex. It uses "nano technology" to deliver what your body needs on a molecular level. Also, Essential Fatty Acids, like Marine Omega. Why? It is a natural anti-inflammatory and benefits EVERY part of the body. Everything! Skin, hair, organs, blood vessels, joints, brain function...all of it! Why do you think your mom or grandmother chased you around the house with that cod liver oil on a spoon?! Ask around, it was a common practice in the early part of the 20th century. My mom tells me about her mother doing it her in Ireland. She tried that with my brother and me a few times, but we could run faster than she could. It is one of the best things you can put in your body. Most seafood is so high in mercury levels, we can only eat it once or twice a week safely.
That is why this is a key in your supplemental health. After those two are acquired into your health regimen, you must ask yourself, " What else would be helpful to my health?" Joint pain? There are exceptional joint formula products available, such as Pharmanex Cartilage Formula. Menopause, or hormonal imbalances? Try Estera. There are Phase I for childbearing years helping maintain healthy hormone levels, and mood balance when usually needed. It does contain Chasteberry, which is a key ingredient, and can counter-act the birth control pill. I used Chasteberry for the first time when I suffered from PMS, and was trying to conceive my second child. It helped for both those reasons. I was less moody, and soon pregnant! I have recommended it several times to couples trying to conceive, who came to the vitamin and supplement store where I worked, and they returned to me grateful, and expecting. I am thankful for that. Phase II is for "perimenopausal years", and helps with mild mood swings, hot flashes, and occasional anxiousness. Phase III is the maintenance formula for "postmenopausal years". Digestive health, Vein health, Eye Formula, and Immune System support products are also available.
If extra weight is an issue, I recommend TRA and HTP complex. I use them in my weight loss regimen, and appreciate their "stimulant free" quality. HTP complex balances serotonin levels, which helps you feel positive while losing weight. The TRA complex is a "natural thermogenic" product, helping the body burn fat more effectively when exercising. There are other weight loss products available, as well, all working to help achieve a desired goal. There are great products available for energy levels, such as Energy Formula, and CordyMax Cs-4, for vitality and stamina, while cutting down on fatigue.
Other products available cover a wide range of personal needs from cellular protection, anxiety, bone health, cardiovascular health, and much more. There is even a great product that helps provide your body with antioxidants it needs, and doesn't usually get, due to poor food quality. It is the main reason for supplemental health needs. The soil isn't as plentiful with the minerals the body needs, and therefore what comes from it is lacking in vitamins and minerals. Combine that with food that is irradiated, and what is left for the body to absorb? Mostly empty substance. G3 is derived from the "Gac" fruit found in Southern Asia. Healthy eating habits, high antioxidants from naturally rich fruits and vegetables, help contribute to the well known longer lifespan found in Asia. G3 has an abundance of antioxidants, and great health benefits missing from our everyday fruits and vegetables.
And in addition to your new physical outlook, please keep in mind, the "stress factor". Stress is serious, and can damage you body, mind and spirit. I highly recommend taking the time to "re-create yourself". It's what recreation means to do. If you take time to rest, enjoy a hobby, or a walk, read, or create something -if you've tried it before or not, it would do your mind a world of good. Everyone needs down time. Time to enjoy existing, on a peaceful, creative level. Play with your dog, take a pottery or painting class, or just walk in the park. Find the time to focus on what makes you feel good just being alive. Visualize it, and write it down.Take the time to be thankful for what you have and love in life. A positive outlook, and mental attitude will carry you a long way. Also take time to pray or meditate, or just be still in a quiet place, and feel joy for all your good qualities. Learn to appreciate yourself, as well as others. I greatly recommend checking out books of self improvement at your local book store. They have great books on positive thinking, and the benefits it has on our health. I want you to feel awesome!
For more information on the products mentioned above, please visit www.liseguillet.com, and see "feel awesome" to see what products will benefit your life. Each product comes with information pages, and benefits information. There is a friendly well trained staff available to answer your product questions at 1-800-487-1000. Pharmanex is a brand of Nu Skin Enterprises , a great company that does a lot of good for people all around the world, as well as here at home.
I hope you enjoy your new start on health, and enjoy the benefits of a long, and very healthy, active life. All the best to you!

Is this the answer to weight loss? Stick on a patch and 'hey-presto' you're thin! All your past excesses disappear in a trice - just by putting on a patch. Wow! The days of miracles are still with us.
Diet Patches - Weight Loss Band-Aids?
If diet patches are the answer to weight loss, the inventor should be waiting by the telephone. The call to say that the Nobel prize for science is theirs shouldn't be far away. Diet patches are definitely not the answer to weight loss, but do they do any good at all?
Diet patches usually contain four main ingredients. Guarana which is a caffeine based stimulant and a diuretic. Chromium which can help to regulate insulin function and blood sugar levels. Hydroxycitric acid which is meant to prevent the conversion of carbs to fat and something called Bladderwrack which is meant to have fat burning qualities.
All good stuff, but do they work? The simple answer is 'no' they do not. There have been many unsubstantiated claims about diet patches and they have gotten the manufacturers into more than a bit of hot water. The truth is that diet patches have no real short-term or lasting weight loss benefit. Used in conjunction with a serious change in eating and lifestyle habits, there could be some minor benefit, but you'd be hard pressed to identify it. A Band-Aid might be a very good description for a diet patch, but on the other hand it might be being a bit unfair to a Band-Aid!
The bottom line is that there is no substitute for changing your habits by learning new eating and lifestyle habits if you want to lose weight. There is no silver bullet when it comes to losing weight. There is no easy answer, but there are some things that you can do that will influence your weight and help your prospects of leading a slimmer, healthier life. Have you considered a vegetarian diet? It's not as daft as it may sound. By changing what you eat in a fairly drastic way, by cutting out the things like meat and ready meals that contain meat, you will reduce many of the things that have helped to make you overweight. It's worth a try.

Some weight lose supplements doesn't work, do not relay on the advertisement you see on TV to be the way it will work for you. There promoters even go to a greater extent to convince you with their "before and after" shots, all these are done to entice you to buy their products so they could make profits.
If you are able to find a good weight loss supplements, then you will experience a fast weight loss result. Some of the weight loss supplements I will recommend are;
Cortisol Blockers: The work of this supplement in the body is to block the production of the stress hormone cortisol that results in adipose fat storage. If you plan to take this supplement is advisable you do a thorough research in order to know whether it will suit your body. Cortisol decreases inflammation and has some side-effects on joint pain.
Hoodia: Hoodia is a popular weight loss supplement you might have in one way or the other come across hoodia, though the work of hoodia may look unfamiliar to you. The truth is that not all hoodia are made to be equal, some are of low quality while some are high quality. Detecting the one that's original is not always easy because they look exactly alike. If you mistakenly purchase the low quality ones, I must tell you that it won't work.
Carb Blockers: It's mainly made for people that are still on the low carb plans. It's normally taken before meal and it can block over 100 calories from carb laden and fatty foods. Carb blockers have side-effects if taken. It shows effects on the stool if taken.
Stimulants: Examples of stimulant are Xendrine and Hydroxycut. It's obtainable from natural plants and it's used to increase the metabolism in addition to other known stimulants like Caffeine. It works by burning energy stored in form of fat.
Taking weight loss supplements to lose weight is a good. It's a stressful method of losing weight fast, you just take the supplements and wait for the fat burning process to occur but bear in mind that supplements has side-effects in the body. Even natural supplements show negative effect on the body, it's good to do a thorough research before one can take a weight loss supplement.

Drinking diet tea for weight loss is a most popular want to lose excess weight. If you wanting to lose 5 to 10 pounds quickly, drinking diet tea along with a good meal plan, will make the pounds melt off. Most teas are herbal which curbs hunger so you won't want to eat as much. They also contain natural laxatives which will help loose excess water. Just be sure that you eat healthy too, and don't just drink the tea and not eat at all. Drink it a few days and then stop drinking it for a couple days to let your body adjust naturally. This is a healthy drink but can be harmful to the bowels and intestines if over indulged for long lengths of time.
Herbal diet tea can be an excellent alternative for weight loss opposed to using diet medication, like diet pills. It many cases it is safer and works just as effective. Herbal teas control hunger, boost energy levels, which helps you burn the calories off faster. They naturally burn fat by creating what is called thermogenic heat, which burns fat and converts calories to energy rather than fat. This is a powerful antioxidant and multifunctional remedy for weight loss, disease, and aging. It also contains a natural substance called epigallocatechin gallate, which is known to fight cancer. The herbal teas contain chromium and it controls and stabilizes blood sugar levels. Bladderwrack is another ingredient in diet tea and it helps balance your hormones, which in turn helps control your appetite. These are all good herbs to find in diet tea.
There are some bad herbs in diet tea. Try to avoid the herb guarana in tea as it is a stimulant that may cause nervousness, sleeplessness and dizziness in some people. Diet teas or supplements containing Ma Huang are dangerous. Ma Huang is just another form of ephedrine which is banned, and known to cause rapid heartbeat and dizziness. There are so many other good herbs that will enhance your energy and burn fat that have zero affect on your sense of health and well being and don't cause the rapid heartbeat of nervousness.
When on any kind of diet system just makes sure you continue to eat wisely. Don't skip meals and just drink diet tea alone. Eat healthy and include the diet tea as your meal's drink. Eat lots of fruits, vegetables and grains for fiber. As you drink you will begin to feel and focus well. You will find yourself also having tons of energy.
